All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when picking up your vehicle. This document outlines the terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Rental Requirements for Vehicles
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Keighley, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may vary based on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. A valid driving licence relevant to the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. You will also need to supply valid payment information and a security deposit, as well as meet any further requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made on our website, via phone, or directly at our Keighley office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The full payment along with a security deposit is usually required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage immediately. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when collected, taking normal wear and tear into account. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged appropriately. Ensure that the fuel level matches what was provided at collection, as refueling charges will apply if the vehicle is returned with less fuel. Returns made after the agreed time may incur extra charges; please inform us as soon as possible if a late return is anticipated. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges that arise during your rental, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Details
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. Comprehensive details regarding coverage and excess amounts are outlined in the Rental Agreement. You may have the option to purchase additional insurance to lower your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless additional insurance applies. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or a breach of these Terms will be your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise details, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Please be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or other risky behaviors. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting to others or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Vehicles should only be used for their intended purposes, and passenger or weight limits must not be exceeded. Operating the vehicle outside of the agreed geographical limits requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Keighley will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount you paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence, or for fraud.
9. Local Legal Framework
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts in these regions.
